J. David Borders
J. David Borders was born in Lebanon, Kentucky in 1938. While raising four children with his wife, Margo, and working full time as an electrical engineer, David returned to law school (graduating cum laude in his class at the University of Louisville in 1971) to fulfill his dream of becoming an attorney. He quickly honed in on real estate law as his passion because it gave him a chance to help thousands of people fulfill the American dream of homeownership. Quickly earning a reputation as a kind and extremely competent attorney, David has represented hundreds of lenders and thousands of individuals over the years in real estate transactions. When not practicing law, you’ll find David in his workshop, making fine furniture for his children and grandchildren. David is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.
John D. Borders Jr.
John D. Borders, Jr. started working with his father in 1989 after earning degrees in journalism and then law at the University of Kentucky. John focuses his practice on real estate transactions in Kentucky. In addition to handling closings, he also prepares contracts, creates wills and works with probate matters. John has served on the forms committee of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors since the mid 1990s. He is a member of the Louisville and Kentucky bar associations as well as the Florida bar. John handles the majority of the firm’s pro bono work. John is married to jewelry designer Cindy Borders, and they have three children.
Harry B. Borders
Harry B. Borders joined the firm in 1991 after graduating in the top ten percent of his University of Kentucky law school class. Harry also has an engineering degree from the University of Louisville. In addition to real estate closings, Harry sets up companies (limited liability companies and corporations), handles IRS section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, and works closely with real estate investors. Harry is a frequent instructor of real estate law courses at the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors. He is a member of the Louisville and Kentucky bar associations. Harry is also a member of the Kentucky Real Estate Investors Association.
Harry travels annually to Central America with Hand in Hand Ministries to help build hope for the poor of the region. Harry has four children.
Jennifer Fields
Jennifer Fields graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1996 after completing her B.S. in biology from Milligan College. After working with Kentucky’s Fish and Wildlife Department in Frankfort, Jennifer joined the firm in 2001. She focuses her practice on real estate transactions, real estate investors, foreclosure purchases, business formations and IRS section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. Jennifer is a member of the Kentucky, Indiana and Louisville bar associations. She is also a member of the Kentucky Real Estate Investors Association. Jennifer grew up in Louisville and lives here with her husband, Mitch, and their two children.
Laura Kazlauskas
Laura Kazlauskas joined the firm in 2007 after working as a staff attorney for Circuit Court Judge James D. Ishmael in Lexington, Kentucky. Laura earned her law degree from the University of Kentucky after graduating from Furman University in South Carolina with a B.S. in political science. Laura focuses her practice on real estate closings and also works in the area of probate and estates. Laura is a native of South Carolina and a member of the South Carolina bar. Outside of work, Laura enjoys reading, church, exercising, and spending time with her husband, Jeramy, and their two children.
Natalie Richards
Natalie is a native of Louisville, and received a B.A. in Political Science in 1989 and a law degree in 1992, both from the University of Louisville. After law school, Natalie practiced in Indianapolis, Indiana focusing on foreclosure and bankruptcy. She joined Borders and Borders in 1998, handling real estate closings and probate and estate work. Natalie and her husband Steve are the parents of four boys. In her free time, Natalie enjoys traveling and reading.
Corinne Lawrence
Corinne Lawrence joined Borders & Borders as a closing attorney in 2013. Prior to coming to Borders & Borders, Corinne worked as a general practice attorney in Louisville for 7 years, with a focus on divorce and construction litigation. Corinne earned her undergraduate degree at Wright State University and her J.D from the University of Dayton. In her spare time, Corinne enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, Cordell and daughter Carrington.
Margo Borders
Margo Borders, daughter of Harry Borders, joined the firm in 2020 after becoming a third generation attorney in the Borders family. She graduated from the University of Louisville law school in December of 2019 and received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Bellarmine University in 2017. Margo is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and focuses her practice on real estate transactions in Kentucky. Margo is from Louisville and enjoys exploring the city, reading, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé, Lucas, and their two German Shepherds and cat.
