John Borders, Jr.

Partner

John D. Borders, Jr. started working with his father in 1989 after earning degrees in journalism and then law at the University of Kentucky. John focuses his practice on real estate transactions in Kentucky. In addition to handling closings, he also prepares contracts, creates wills and works with probate matters. John has served on the forms committee of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors since the mid 1990s. He is a member of the Louisville and Kentucky bar associations as well as the Florida bar. John handles the majority of the firm’s pro bono work. John is married to jewelry designer Cindy Borders, and they have three children.

Harry Borders

Partner

Harry B. Borders joined the firm in 1991 after graduating in the top ten percent of his University of Kentucky law school class. Harry also has an engineering degree from the University of Louisville. In addition to real estate closings, Harry sets up companies (limited liability companies and corporations), handles IRS section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, and works closely with real estate investors. Harry is a frequent instructor of real estate law courses at the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors. He is a member of the Louisville and Kentucky bar associations. Harry is also a member of the Kentucky Real Estate Investors Association. Harry travels annually to Central America with Hand in Hand Ministries to help build hope for the poor of the region. Harry has four children.

Margo Borders Garrett

Attorney

Margo Borders, daughter of Harry Borders, joined the firm in 2020 after becoming a third-generation attorney in the Borders family. She graduated from the University of Louisville law school in December of 2019 and received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Bellarmine University in 2017. Margo is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and focuses her practice on real estate transactions in Kentucky. Margo is from Louisville and enjoys exploring the city, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband Lucas, and their two German Shepherds and cat.

Jennifer Fields

Attorney

Jennifer Fields graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1996 after completing her B.S. in biology from Milligan College. After working with Kentucky’s Fish and Wildlife Department in Frankfort, Jennifer joined the firm in 2001. She focuses her practice on real estate transactions, real estate investors, foreclosure purchases, business formations and IRS section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. Jennifer is a member of the Kentucky, Indiana and Louisville bar associations. She is also a member of the Kentucky Real Estate Investors Association. Jennifer grew up in Louisville and lives here with her husband, Mitch, and their two children.

Katelin Haney

Attorney

Katelin Haney joined the firm in 2021. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law. Prior to coming to Borders & Borders, PLC, Katelin worked in juvenile court, practiced in family law, and started an investment company with her family flipping houses and purchasing rental properties in her home state of West Virginia. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and now focuses her practice on real estate transactions. In her spare time, Katelin likes to travel, spend time with her friends, family, and her dog, Bella.

Terra Rivera

Attorney

Terra Rivera joined the firm in 2023. She earned her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and her J.D. from the University of Kentucky. Prior to coming to Borders & Borders, PLC, Terra worked as a contract negotiator and managed her own short term rental co-hosting business. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and focuses her practice on business entity formation and 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. In her spare time, Terra likes to do anything related to real estate investing, as well as travel, dominate at trivia nights, karaoke, salsa dance, and hang out with her friends, family, and dog, Zeppelin.

Jacob Ludwig

Attorney

Jacob is an attorney at Borders & Borders, PLC. He joined the B&B Team to provide additional support and services to our investor clients. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky. In his practice, Jacob is focused on helping clients navigate the complexities of real estate transactions. Outside of work, Jacob is passionate about soccer, hiking, and Travelling. He also enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Courtney, and their two dogs, Luna and Joy. With a strong commitment to his clients and community, Jacob is dedicated to providing top-notch support with a personal touch.
