Wire Fraud Scams are on the Rise!

It's all over the news today: wire fraud and other fraudulent activities in real estate transactions are rising!

It isn't uncommon for a fraudster to hack into an email account of a party or agent and to pretend to be the title company. They might then send a convincing email to a buyer, asking that the money be wired into an account, purportedly owned by the title company or closing attorney, but really owned by the fraudster. Buyers, sellers, agents, and lenders need to exercise caution during the course of real estate transactions.
